Go
(Great Commission)
Jesus lived a perfect life and after on the cross, he was buried and then was resurrected on the third day. Before he ascended in to heaven he appeared to his disciples in Galilee in order to give them this important and special message:
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20, NIV)
This section of Scripture has become known as the “Great Commission”. It was the last words of the Jesus to his disciples, and it holds great significance to us today.
The Great Commission is foundational for evangelism and world-wide missions work. The Great Commission is found throughout the Gospels and the foundation of the church (Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15–18; Luke 24:44-49; John 20:19-23; and Acts 1:8).
Coming from the God’s , the Great Commission calls Christ's disciples to carry out the work God started by sending his Son into the world to die for lost sinners. We at Greenville Alliance want to be knowledgeable of the Great Commission and active participants in the Great commission as well knowing that in addition to Gathering for worship, Growing through discipleship, and Giving within the local church this is part of God’s purpose for us today.
PURPOSE of the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20, Hebrews 10:14-17)
