  • Serving in the local church is necessary in regards to helping in the church body. If no one contributes in helping to keep the church running, it will fall apart. We are called in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 to be one of the members of the body, and during our sanctification in Jesus, we are to serve like him. The Bible says that when we receive a spiritual gift, we are to use it to serve those around us. Spiritual gifts are not for our own gain, but for the gain of others (1 Peter 4:10-11).

  • We at Greenville Alliance desire to joyfully discover what our Spiritual gifts are and use them in the life of the Church. Paul makes giving to the local church and to other churches/Christians a point of distinction in his letters. We are commended to do good to everyone, but there is a distinction made for those who are believers (Galatians 6:10). Spiritual gifts are given to “build up the body of Christ”. Throughout the Pauline espitles the local churches are given instruction to serve in the local body (giving) and also to serve those outside the local body (going). Gathering, Growing, Giving, and Going must all be done at the same time. We recognize that in different season of our lives this will look different so we must regularly evaluate how God may be asking us to serve.

  • We serve the local church by generously giving our finances to further God’s Kingdom and by using our spiritual gifts in helping our local church. Tangibly this could be helping in Grow KIDS, Students, worship, as an adult group facilitator, serving on a committee, helping with our trustees, elders, prayer ministry, greeters, and other great opportunities
